Resident physicians have become indispensable members of the Garnet Health and surrounding community. Behavioral Health and Psychiatric screenings have become a vital part of the treatment plans that the OMM and family medicine clinics have to offer. This clinic is growing rapidly as a result of referrals and word-of-mouth, and so much so that it has established continuity with patients and has expanded to include residents from other specialties. The integration of OMM into Garnet Health Medical Center’s treatment plans has resulted in a resident-run outpatient OMM clinic, located in Garnet Health Medical Center’s Outpatient Building. Inpatient rounding with family physicians aims to apply OMM whenever it can contribute to the patient healing process. Incorporating Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine into the hospital and as part of the patient’s regular treatment has been a priority.

We trust that our future residents will continue to be committed to improving the healthcare of the surrounding community just as we are committed to training exceptional family physicians. Twenty percent of our graduates joined Garnet Health and dedicate themselves to serving Orange and Sullivan Counties.

To date, graduates have joined outpatient and urgent care practices in our area and beyond and have joined fellowship programs, too. Residents will be exposed to all aspects of Family Medicine from treating OB/GYN patients, newborns, and pediatric patients to having preventative medicine dialogues with adult and geriatric patients.Īll our graduates work in their chosen area and feel confident in the training received. Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine is at the heart of the program. Garnet Health Medical Center is proud to offer an ACGME & AOA-approved three-year family medicine residency program.
